This is me, around the age when I first began to discover my "gifts".
Hello, my name is Lauryn, and I am a Psychic. Is it funny for a psychic to hate the word "psychic"? Especially when their business name has the word psychic in it? If you do a little bit of googling, you will find research that says while most Americans believe in psychic phenomenon, they are also loath to admit it. There is a psychic stigma akin to telling people you believe in the Tooth Fairy, or saying you ARE the Tooth Fairy. Go ahead and tell somebody you can see the future- you are likely to be laughed at. You might even be looking over your shoulder right now while you read this, afraid of recieving criticism from a loved one for being "gullable". I have a mind that is both artistic and scientific. If it's not a creative endeavor, I tend to prefer logic and evidence. I am a Registered Nurse, and I think this is the root of my desire for evidence based practices. How could I believe in psychics, even call myself one, as a believer in evidence based practice? Let me tell you, I am extremely skeptical. I am the most skeptical psychic you will ever meet. I actually considered branding my business as "The Skeptical Psychic", but The Psychic Nurse won out. When it comes right down to it, this psychic stuff isn't logical at all, and the only evidence I have is testing myself time and again, and being right. I can't claim to understand exactly how everything works, though I have my theories (which I plan to discuss in detail with future posts). What I do know is I can't deny what I've seen, both before and after it unfolds. I have had "abilities" since I was a child, but only a select few people in my life know about it. Until now, that is. It's hard to stay in the psychic closet when establishing a psychic business. How can you flourish if you aren't brave enough to admit, no, FLAUNT your gift? It's not logical, but I know it to be true from my experiences. So here I am, saying it loud and clear. I am a psychic (Hi Mom and Dad, sorry not sorry if you think this is weird!). I hope you will join me on this journey without looking over your shoulder, and if you think you have any kind of psychic ability (spoiler alert: everyone has the potential to harness their own psychic ability), I hope you will step out into the light with me!

This is me recently, trying to take a selfie where I don't look like an exhausted Mom.
