Getting the Most Out of Your Psychic Readings: Dos and Dont's

Hello again!  I've been working on this post for some timtime, trying to compile my best advice.  If you are thinking about getting a reading with ANY reader it's best to be prepared!

Do

Know Your Reader

Speaking of doing some research preemptively, make sure you also actually look into your psychic's reputation before you book the session. Generally speaking reputable, professional psychics use their real name, have a website, and can procure references or share reviews on social media. I would not recommend just wandering into a basement shop with a neon sign and expect the most legitimate of experiences.

Respect the Price Tag

Some people wonder why psychics charge as much as they do. Psychic readings can cost the equivalent of a couple of drinks at a bar to rivaling a psychiatrist's hourly rate if the psychic is established in television or as an author. Credibility is important for a good psychic and many credible psychics are not cheap. Psychic readings are incredibly draining. They take an emotional, physical, and mental toll on the reader, and it can be hard to do multiple in depth readings in one day for many psychics because of how much effort goes into them. And while there is no true degree program for intuitive abilities, real Psychics put a lot of time into studying and improving their craft. The amount the psychic charges for a reading should reflect both how much of their time and their soul they give to their client along with how much experience and notarity they have.

Follow the Vibes

Research into your psychics credibility and abilities is vital, but one should not neglect the importance of your own intuition when choosing a psychic. Many of my clients tell me they came to me because they were attracted to my vibe. Something just felt right, or they felt called or compelled to talk to me, or there was some sort of unfolding of circumstances that told them I was the one they needed to see. In my experience these are also the most successful readings I've had. I am never offended if someone is not interested in being read by me- I know that the people who are meant to come to me will find me at the right moment. If you are ever in a reading and something does not feel right, trust your instincts and do not be afraid to terminate the reading prematurely.

Think About What You Want to Get Out of Your Reading Ahead of Time

I don't mind if a person wants a "general reading", which essentially means they have no specific questions or topics they would like me to look into. However, if there is something specific you would like me to attempt to connect with, it's important for you to think about what your question is. I've had clients tick their time away trying to decide what they want to ask. I've also had clients wait until the last 5 minutes of the reading to ask the thing they really wanted to ask at the beginning, but were too nervous to say. It's YOUR time, make the most of it!

Interact

I can't stress how important this is for a productive psychic reading. Some people don't want to give the psychic any information because "then they might just be making things up" based on what you say. However, so much about a good psychic reading includes a give and take in the information. It is very difficult for me to throw out information at a stone wall. Also, when you clam up it's not just your mouth that's closed. Your entire spiritual essence is locked tight, which impedes the psychic connection. You don't have to tell your life story as your reader should be able to intuit some information on their own, but make sure you are mentally and emotionally open during your session.

Expect the Message You Need and Not Necessarily the One You Want

This is another big lesson that is best learned prior to your reading. As I mentioned earlier it is highly advisable to consider what it is you want to know before you attend your reading. However, it is also best to attend your session with an open mind and spirit, and understand that things may flow in a different direction from what you intended. Spirit often has it's agenda lined up for you long before you walk into your reading. The answer you want may be something you NEED to learn on your own. Spirit does not like to spoon feed answers, it's not good for our soul growth. We need to examine and intuit some information for ourselves. Likewise the amount of information given and the specificity of it is also carefully predestined- there are some things you simply should not know. Lastly, the information that does come through maybe completely unexpected, and not what you were trying to ask about. Trust that whatever is revealed during your session, or NOT revealed, is in your highest good.

Take Notes

Often times a psychic session can feel a little overwhelming if the information from the other side is flowing. You may experience some psychic amnesia. Feel free to jot down some notes on our session- the cards if it's a tarot reading, theinterpretation, anything at all to help you retain the info. Many psychics allow recordings as well, just make sure to check for their permission.

Understand the Nature of Destiny and Future

Real psychic readings are not like they are in the movies. Some psychics are able to give very specific, accurate information ("the man of your dreams will be wearing a blue tie, and you will meet him on March 15th, one year from now..."). But often times this level of detail is fluff. The future is never set in stone. A psychic reading will tell you the direction of the path you are on RIGHT NOW, but your ticket to the future is always open. Fate and destiny exist- we all have an overarching storyline, and certain events are fixed moments. However the path you take, and how long or short it is becomes dependent on free will of you as well as the butterfly effect of decisions and events that occur around you. If my reading includes information on your path, I also like to look at possible alternative outcomes and I ask the spirit guides for any information I can to help you along the way towards your highest good. Sometimes the future shown in my readings does not make immediate sense to my client. They feel something was not right in the information I received and shared. I also often hear from these clients later and find out that what didnt make sense later became truth.

Take Timelines with a Grain of Salt

Related to the previous point, because the nature of your future is flexible, so is the time it may take for events to unfold. It is for this reason I hesitate to declare timelines for my clients. Some psychics are more comfortable telling you exactly where and when something may take place- they are not nessecarily conning you, nor were they nessecarily wrong if things dont happen exactly as they predicted. Time itself is not of great concern to the spirit world- they do not live experiences as linearly as we do, so its easy for some mixed signals to occur.

Ask for Tips on Developing Your Own Spiritual Potential

It is my very strong belief that we are all capable of psychic abilities, though I admit it can be more difficult to do readings for oneself than for other people. However, developing your own intuition will help your life unfold in ways you may never have thought possible. Circumstances and purpose can begin to line up and unfold effortlessly when you are able to tune into your own skills, and rapid spiritual growth is inevitable. A less reputable psychic may be hesitant to teach clients how to be more spiritually independent because they are afraid it will keep the client from needing them for readings. I love to give clients tips on how to work on their own psychic abilities. I do not need a client to be psychically dependent on me- I encourage them to forge their own intuitive path.

Don't

Close Yourself Off, Lie, or Try to "Test" Your Psychic

Ever have a conversation with someone who doesn't answer back? It's pretty difficult to make headway. When you shut yourself down conversationally, mentally, even emotionally, you also shut yourself down spiritually and I may not be able to access information that you would benefit from. I cannot draw water from a rock! Some people don't want to share information because they think if they tell you things, they may "give away something" that you will use to trick them into believing you are a real psychic when you aren't. As far as lying goes, you are only wasting your money, and I will never understand why people pay for readings only to test my skills as a lie detector.

Expect Freebies

Many people, even other psychics, criticize readers for charging for their gifts. They say that God gave you your gift, and you are meant to help others, and that it is wrong to ask for money. This is no different than telling me as a Registered Nurse that I should work for free, because I am supposed to help others. Psychic have to eat, they have families to clothe and roofs to keep overhead just like anybody else. We may be spiritually inclined but we are still physical beings with needs, not to say anything about the time and effort we put into our crafts. Please don't expect a psychic to give you a reading for nothing in return, and please dont try to haggle with them over their rates or get more time than you paid for. Its simply not nice.

Expect the Psychic to Tell You What to do or Make Decisions for You

Psychic insight offers guidelines only. I say this over and over in all of my disclaimers. I cannot gaurentee you future outcomes (see above about the future being in flux) and I cannot tell you exactly what is best for you. I can make recommendations based on my tarot card reading, but in the end you must take responsibility for the decisions you make and the paths you choose in your life.

📷

Ask What Issues that the Psychic Doesn't Specialize in

Would you ask your primary care doctor to conduct open heart surgery on you? Would you have an optometrist clean your teeth? If there is a specific kind of help you are looking for or a type of reading you want, it's important that you see a psychic that specializes in the help and modality you desire.

📷

Buy Expensive "Cures" or Spells

Beware of a psychic that intices you into a reading with low low prices. It's a common trick to lure a customer in, and then the psychic keeps you going with higher rates for additional time, or they try to sell you a spell that will cure you of the curse they have identified, and it will only be a few hundred dollars to save your soul. If a reader tells you that there are evil spirits attached to your aura and they can sell you a candle for protection, or that you are going to die in a year but they can save you with a special charm, all of your alarms should be going off that they are conning you. Run, don't walk, and take your money with you!
